We understand! That’s why our St. Louis wallpaper removal service could be exactly what you are looking for.
Often times, wallpaper that seemed to be an amazing fit for your home (or in the eyes of the previous owner) is out of date or becomes damaged or faded and needs to be removed. At the outset of this project, it seems to be a very simple procedure. However, if done improperly, you can cause extensive damage to your drywall which will require significantly more work than was originally needed to complete the project (refer again to above graphic).
How Hard Will It Be To Strip My Old Wallpaper?
The difficulty of the project will be dependent upon how many layers of wallpaper there are, the adhesive used to secure it to the walls, the surface beneath the wallpaper and the amount of damage to the surface of the wallpaper.
In some instances, the wallpaper will come down in clean, uniform fashion. However, this is often not the case due to the myriad factors listed above. This is where the professionals at BRS Custom Painting come into play. With their knowledge of wall coverings, the skill and patience to remove them properly and the ability to repair any damages caused by wallpaper removal makes a usually tedious process go much more smoothly.
What Is The Best Way To Remove Wallpaper or Borders?
The first step to making sure that wallpaper is removed properly begins with protecting the flooring in the room where the project will take place. Once the floors are properly protected, the wallpaper will need to be scored to ensure that the solution used to remove the wallpaper will properly penetrate the surface. The key to this step is ensuring that the walls are properly scored, but not so much that you create unnecessary divots in your walls. Following the scoring of the wallpaper, a solution (usually DIF) is applied to the wallpaper using a pump sprayer. The solution needs to sit on the wall for at least 15 minutes prior to the removal of wallpaper.
After the surfaces have been scored and the wallpaper removal solution has been applied, BRS Custom Painting technicians will then begin to remove the wallpaper. If the wallpaper does not come off in sheets, a putty knife will be used to remove the wallpaper in smaller sections. Once all of the wallpaper has been stripped, the putty knife will be used to remove any additional adhesive that was left behind. It is very important to make sure that ALL paper has been removed to ensure a uniform finish when the painting takes place. The only thing left after all of this is to make any necessary repairs to the drywall or plaster that was caused by the removal of wallpaper. This usually includes minor spackling of imperfections but may require large areas to be floated using joint compound.
Once all of the wallpaper is properly removed and the surfaces have had ample time to dry, BRS Custom Painting technicians will begin the necessary procedures to paint the walls and restore the beauty to a room that once seemed dated and dull.
